Review: Careline Oil Control Pressed Powder

Hey Everyone!

Today I'm going to be reviewing the Careline Oil Control Pressed Powder. I have the refill one because I honestly don't like its real packaging and so I just stick with the refill one.

Nowadays, I've been wanting to explore local brands here in the Philippines. So I thought, why not start out with Careline.

I believe Careline is a sister company or a sub company (I'm not really sure) of Ever Bilena. And I think these Careline products are suitable for teens.

Well, since I'm a teen and stuff,
without further ado, let's get on with the review!

The Packaging (of the refill version) is just a cheap plastic case with a clear lid. Reminds me of the Collection Cosmetics Lasting Perfection 16 hour wear powder and the Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder.

It has a little thing at the top so you can push out the pan to get it out of the plastic case, and I guess you can put it on a carry-on palette or put it in its own original packaging.

I got the shade in Tan since I think its the closest one to my skin tone. I'd actually get the other shades because the shades are just reaaaally close to each other. I couldn't even tell what's the difference of each shade.

The powder smells really nice.. I can't really describe the smell but it smells really good. Disclaimer though, if you are kinda picky with cosmetic smell, then this might be a bit pungent-smelling for you.

In terms of longevity and oil-controlling, the powder lasted on my face for about 4 hours. My face did oil up and tried re-applying it but didn't expand the longevity of the product. My face, after reapplying, had oiled up again just after about 3 hours .

**My apologies with the lighting, it was night.. so. ehe** Here's a little swatch of the powder. It's really blendable and not chalky at all.

"Careline Oil Control Face Powder Refill is especially formulated for teens to keep their skin shine-free and moisturized all day long. This light and natural looking powder has an oil control formula enriched with vitamin E."

Ingredients: MICA, TALC, SILICA, KAOLIN, ETHYLHEXYL, PALMITATE, TRIDECYL, TRIMELLITATE, DIMETHICONE, MAGNESIUM STEARATE, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, METHYL PARABEN, PROPYL PARABEN, MAY CONTAIN CI77891, CI77492, CI 77499

Now, what I just don't understand, why put paraben stuff in products that are supposed to be meant for teens? I believe paraben stuff are bad for human health if constant use.

HITS
- Average variety of shade selection
- The smell is sooooo good. More like cake foundation smell
- It does control oil, therefore, mattifying the face.
- Not very chalky at all
- Has Vitamin E for achieving youthful skin
- Affordable for the price of Php 65.00 (price varies where you buy it. I bought mine at Robinson's department store.)

MISS
- The smell may be pungent for sensitive noses
- Not long lasting at all. It only lasted for 3-4 hours (but it claims a shine-free face all day long)
- Has paraben stuff
- Flimsy packaging (I didn't expect much since it's meant to be an affordable product)

That concludes my review of the Careline Oil Control Pressed Powder. Hope this was helpful. :)

Mini Haul: Beauty and Fashion ♥ May 10 2014

Hey Everyone!

I just got back home from the mall to run some errands and shop for a Mother's day gift for my dearest mom. Before anything else, Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there who loved and cared for us unconditionally.

To start off,
Beauty Products
I've been thinking of trying out the Careline cosmetics. So I bought some of their products.
Careline Pimple Concealer in the shade Oriental. Retails for Php90.00
When it comes to these kind of concealers that didn't have testers at the moment, I tried to ask the sales lady what my shade was and then she gave me the shade in Natural. So I took it and went on to look for some more to buy. As I was walking I noticed that it was waaaaaay too light for me so I had to eyeball my own shade and instead, got the shade Oriental. :)

Careline Oil Control Powder Refill in the shade Tan. Retails for Php65.00
Now, the sales lady got my shade right. This was by far, the closest one to my skintone. Other shades were really close to each other so I can't really tell the difference and others had pink undertones. But this Tan shade had the perfect yellow undertone.

Moving on to skincare, I only bought one product though
Celeteque DermoScience+ Moisturizer in Hydration. Retails for Php127.00
All my life, I've only been using stuff from UniLab (becauseimkindasponsoredinawaybutnevermind) and they came out with huge lines of products such as Hydration, Brightening, Sun Care, Acne Solutions, Advanced Anti-Aging, Restorative, and Maternity. I've heard that this is a really good moisturizer for oily skin like me because it's a water-based moisturizer. Also, this was raved by a lot of beauty bloggers in the community.

Next up,
Fashion
So far so good, I'm loving Cotton on. So as my Mom!
Thong Sandals in Animal Print. Retails for Php1200 (get 2 pairs for Php1200)

Thong Sandals in Black and White Stripes. Retails for Php1200 (get 2 pairs for Php1200)

Lately, I've been loving to sport thong sandals because... THEY JUST GO TOGETHER WITH EVERYTHING!!! And it makes me happy xD Well, I think you get the point.

So that consists my Mini Haul! Seriously, this is my first time to do a haul (in a blog way).

And lastly, something really awkward happened when I was on my way home... It's really awkward I can't even remember it. My Apologies :)

What's in My Makeup Bag? 2014!

Hey Everyone!

I just wanted to share what makeup products and tools that I bring with me when I go out or when I travel. These products are basically what I just wear for the whole day.

If you know me good, I don't like going out with drastic/attention catching makeup on my face because I tend to be conscious of people that are going to judge </3 I just prefer sporting a light/barely there makeup look. :)

Sooo.. Here are the products that I bring with me in my little makeup bag!

To start off,
Face Products

For BB cream, I use the Maybelline Clear Smooth BB Stick in the shade 03 Radiance. A lot of the times, I use BB cream instead of foundation because It's much lighter and it has more benefits than foundation that only gives coverage.
For powder, I use the Maybelline all-in-one shine free cake powder travel size in the shade 03 Natural. I used to use the Johnsons baby powder but I noticed that it has a white cast on me so I switched to tinted pressed powders instead. I really wanted the full size one but I couldn't find it anywhere near my place. I really like this powder because of its velvety texture and it smells so good unlike the other Maybelline pressed powders (I'm talking about the green one). I'm almost gonna hit the pan!

For blush, I use the Careline Oil Control Blush in the shade Charming Pink. This is by far the most natural blush on me when applied. The color is really bright in the pan but when I apply it, it oxidizes to a peachy pink natural shade. I really like that it doesn't stay as pink on my face. This is the most affordable local blush I've ever used. I really like the Careline Oil Control Blushes because it really does control oil. I'm a victim of oily skin and if I apply this blush through the end of the day, I noticed that there is oil all over my face BUT my cheeks! There are 7-8 (I'm not really sure) shades available.

Eyes

For brows, I use the Fashion 21 Eyebrow Duo powder. It only has one shade and it contains a light brown powder and a much darker brown powder. I hit the pan on the darker powder because its the perfect shade if you have black hair. I still use a little bit of the light powder but only in the inner corners of my brows just for a more defined transition and to achieve a natural look. The only thing I don't like is the fact that its too powdery and whenever you put in on your brows and you tend to use a spooley to blend, the powder disappears! I prefer brow powders than brow pencils because powder is less harsh and has no wax. I didn't need the wax anyway because my brows grow in a form that it stays put.

For mascara, I use the Maybelline the Magnum Volum' Express mascara. When I go out, I don't use eyeshadows because of my oily lids and it's another reason why I only use waterproof mascaras. This mascara is my all-time favorite mascara! I really like the volum' express mascaras because they really give volume and the brand Maybelline is my most trusted makeup brand. This mascara gives a clean but voluptuous lashes. Another good thing about this, It doesn't smudge on the lower lash line and it doesn't leave black gunk on the outer corners.

Lips

For lipbalm, I use the Evolution of Smooth Lipbalm in the flavor Passion Fruit. I like this one because of its unique form and packaging. The finish of  this kind of a semi matte and that's good because most lipbalms I've tried is glossy and really moisturizing. This lipbalm may be semi-matte but its moisturizing properties are amazing.

For tinted lipbalm, I use the Maybelline Baby Lips <3 Color in the shade Pink Lolita. I've fell in love with the Maybelline Baby Lips lipbalm line the first time I've tried it. It gives a natural looking pigment on the lips so it make the lips healthy looking.

The reason I bring two lipbalms with me is, there are times that I want a natural lip (wherein I use my eos libalm) and there are times that I want just a little bit of color on my lips (that is when I use the Maybelline tinted lipbalm).

Tools

I only bring with me minimal tools and the most essential to me. In this case, I bring my angled brush and spooley with me for retouching my eyebrows. It does a really good job. This is the Marionnaud Premium N°9 Eyes-Yeux  brush. It's pretty handy but the premium one is a bit longer than the classic one.

I also bring my Marionnaud N°32 Blush brush for retouching my blush. I really like this brush because it's extremely soft and it's dense too so it can be used for blending liquid products. This brush is really nice because it sculpts the cheeks and is definitely an awesome tool for contouring.

Last but not the least, the Makeup Bag. I bought this makeup bag from National Bookstore (it's originally a passport/passbook zippy case but when I thought of it, why not make it a makeup bag!). This is really awesome for a very affordable price of Php 50.00! The brand of this case is FUDA and their cases are the most awesome in my opinion. It's pretty sturdy and the stitches are very secure so you don't have to worry about things falling off or having holes in the bag. Also, It reminded me of the August 2012 GlamBag.

I am a minimalist when it comes to makeup. I prefer neutrals over loud colors. I'm still trying to overcome my fear of everyone around me judging of how I put my makeup on. Yes, I overthink before doing something. I just think this is the appropriate kind/type of makeup to use teens my age. But I'm really impressed with some of my friends because they have the guts to wear a bright red lip and a smokey eye outside the house.

But for me, makeup is all about comfort and enhancing the true beauty that you already have. :)
